F.A.Q.
Does Curl+Ray really work with one laser beam? Curl+Ray really consist of one laser ray. You put it on hog-line. It measures time that stone passes over hog-line and then we recalculate in time that you could receive measuring stone weight from back-line to hog-line or from tea-line to hog-line (depends on your calibration). So you really use only one laser ray and you receive digits that are common for you.
How to use Curl+Ray during games? It is developed for practicing, when first object that crosses ray is stone, but not a leg or brush or smth else. We recommend to use it for trainings only.
How it work with reaction time? Everybody has different reaction times. When we recalculate time we use in formula reaction time of a certain person - we calculate it during calibration. Curl+Ray can store two calibrations for two persons for example. So you will receive time that you measure. We add this error in system measurement to have same result as on common stopwatch, since on competitions you will have to play with a common stopwatch.
How calibration works? To do it you deliver rocks with maximum smooth sliding and release. And you type result of measurement from your hand stopwatch. You do it min 10 times. Then program recalculates Curl+Ray parameters. You can have two independent calibrations.
Is it possible to see both calibrations? How to see both calibrations. On measurement module, there are two rows of digits. On Indicator module there is a switch that allows you to choose calibration.
Why hog-line? Hog line is furthest point form skip on ice-sheet where curler does not touch a stone. So at this moment only physics affects it and in this moment sweepers and skip have to make decision to sweep or not.
What if cables are too short for me? When you place an order we will ask you about length of cables. It can be up to 100 meters - more than twice longer than a Curling Sheet.
Why my results on hand stopwatch are not the same as on Curl+Ray? There could be different reasons. First, every person have reaction time, usually it is about 0.1 second on start of hand stopwatch and on stop of it.
It does not work for one of my team players, but works for the rest. How can it be? It could be. Seems that your team mates have different sliders. Please check ‘Ways of use' -> ‘Balancing of sliding rate of team' - you will found answers there.
I want to buy Curl+Ray in a Curling Club. Do you have modification to freeze in ice? Yes, we have this opportunity, but every curling club is individual, so please contact us and we will found best solution for your curling club.
